Ride the USA-Day 27: Laconia Motorcycle Week

Saturday, June 20—Woodbridge, CT to Laconia, NH

I headed out this morning without a clear idea of my destination for the day. I knew my friend, Carlton, was riding with a group of his friends in New Hampshire at the Laconia Motorcycle Rally. We’d been exchanging messages for a couple of weeks trying to figure out how we might meet. I was waiting to hear back from him when I left Woodbridge. Regardless of my specific stop at the end of the day, I was headed out at the bottom of an S-shaped route with Yale University at the lower end of the S, Amherst College at the middle, and somewhere between Sunapee and Laconia at the top end. Ride the USA-Day 2: Mohave National Preserve

Tuesday, May 26—Lone Pine, CA to Seligman, AZ

We rose to a beautiful morning in Lone Pine. The Sierra Nevada Range is literally across the street, with the East side of Mount Whitney best viewed just south of Lone Pine.

Eric Freeman was staying a few doors down from us. We made the typical, roadside motel morning connection. We learned Eric and Debbie have a fascination with Highway 395, to the extent that he has developed a website, Eat and Drive Highway 395—Travel Guide, to help other learn about and explore this historical stretch of highway.
